Petersborough, Ont.

We enjoyed our stay in Peterborough. The marina is right next to McCrary Park where concerts are held every Wednesday and Saturday evenings during July and August. Hundreds of people attend and there are a few vendors selling popcorn, etc.

It was very nice to see people of all ages there, families with children, seniors, teens wandering around. For these concerts, the Chamber brings in a variety of performers and secures donations from businesses as well as individuals to fund this. Concerts are followed by a short fireworks program each evening.

Performing the evening we were there was the group, Destino. This was a group of 3 young men accompanied by a violinist and pianist, all from Vancouver. They sang a mix of opera and popular music. We enjoyed their music very much and can understand why they will be representing Canada at the opening of the Olympics in Bejing.

On Sunday we went to a play put on by the local Theater Guild. It was a farce comedy called "A Perfect Wedding". It was good and a nice way to spend the afternoon. This guild had purchased a church and has converted it into a theater.

This is a view of Little Bay, with a fountain in the middle where we are docked.

Monday we will head off toward Bobcaygeon, stopping one night on one of the lock walls before we get there. I bet Bob will catch a fish.....
